The X7055PBAEP series produced by Sony in this 2020 has left us a bit perplexed . The picture and sound quality is very high, and nothing can really be said about the TV experience. As for the smart sector, however, it is a little lacking, and it is a shame, because if only it had had fewer limitations, the smart TVs of this series would have brought much more satisfaction to Sony.
Here are the main features:
- Screen technology: LED
- Screen Resolution: UHD 4K
- HDR: Yes
- Operating system: Linux
- Internet and Wifi: Yes
- USB ports: 3
- HDMI ports: 3
As we said, from the point of view of image quality it cannot be said that Sony has not really given the best of itself. These smart TVs, in fact, are equipped with the best technologies. The processor itself ( 4K X-Reality PRO ) also plays an essential role, as it optimizes all image parameters in order to offer top-of-the-range entertainment.
The TRILUMINOS and Live Color technologies , on the other hand, take care of enriching the color range. The colors and shades, in fact, appear sharp, realistic and vivid. At the same time, the contrast levels are also very good, and this is due to the Dynamic Contrast Enhancer function , which deepens the separation between blacks and whites. Therefore, to enjoy it is also the sharpness, which is certainly not lacking on these Sony smart TVs.
As for HDR , the latter supports multiple formats, including HDR10 and Hybrid Log-Gamma. Not to be underestimated, then, the Motionflow ™ XR 200 Hz technology , which ensures a clear and realistic view of even the most action-packed content. In other words, forget about motion trails or delays. In short, as we said, on the visual quality you can not really move any criticism towards Sony.
At the same time, the audio is pretty good too, even if it’s nothing earth-shattering. The X7055PBAEP features two Full Range (Bass Reflex) speakers with 10 watts of power each , the Dolby Audio sound system and ClearAudio + sound processing . A serious shortcoming is the absence of the Bluetooth connection, which should be taken for granted in the latest generation smart TVs.
Unfortunately, now the painful notes arrive. X7055PBAEP smart TVs only have Netflix and YouTube apps pre-installed. This, however, would not be a big problem, if at the store there was the possibility to expand its “package” of applications. Instead, as many users rightly complain, many apps cannot be added to these smart TVs .
The problem is easily solved by purchasing the Fire Stick, but here, for those looking for a real smart TV , these models are unlikely to be able to meet this need. Also, unfortunately, we have to deny Alexa’s support : these smart TVs cannot be managed via voice commands, as specified in the product sheets themselves.
In short, let’s say that these smart TVs have very little of “smart” . Rather, they should be taken into consideration by those who are looking for a television that offers high-quality entertainment, without having too many demands on the smart side. As we said, the models of the X7055PBAEP series have thrown us a bit in confusion, especially as regards the price , which in our opinion is not exactly the cheapest for what is offered.
